A history forged in steel
Yakima Steel Fabricators was formed in 1977 by Mervin and Sharon Wark. The company's original purpose was to provide metal fabrication and maintenance services to the Boise Cascade Corporation which had several facilities in Yakima at the time providing milling operations for the Pacific Northwest. In addition to providing these services to Boise Cascade, the company provided metal fabrication services to local construction companies.
In 1993, the company started the Machine Shop Division.
In 2006 john gehlsen purchased yakima steel. John has over 15 years of manufacturing and management experience with several fortune 50 companies. Since the purchase the team at yakima steel has been focused on improving the business processes to be the preeminent supplier of fabricated structural steel and machining services in the pacific northwest.
